How to play Karma — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips
Karma is a Mage in Wild Rift most often played as an enchanter-style support in the bot lane, and her entire kit revolves around Mantra: every spell she casts builds a stack, and the third cast comes out as a stronger, upgraded version. She trades in steady magic poke rather than burst, and her real power spikes come from timing an empowered shield that can save two allies at once. With no dash or blink anywhere in her kit but a low difficulty rating, Karma rewards patient spell-weaving and positioning far more than mechanical skill.
Strengths
- Inner Flame (Q) is safe, spammable poke at long range, and its Mantra-empowered version leaves behind a slowing field that keeps punishing anyone who dives or all-ins through it.
- The empowered Inspire (E) is one of the best defensive tools in the game - its ring lets a second nearby ally step in and pick up the same shield and speed bonus, often saving two teammates from a single cast.
- Focused Resolve (W) threatens a root on up to two enemy champions at once from range, letting Karma zone dives and set up picks without ever committing herself.
- Transcendent Embrace hits an entire grouped fight with damage, a slow, and a knockback toward the center, then instantly refills Mantra so she can chain straight into another empowered spell.
Weaknesses
- No dash, blink, or hard escape anywhere in the kit - a single hook or gap-closer that reaches her (Blitzcrank, Pyke, Leona) usually decides the trade before she can respond.
- No true burst combo: her damage comes from landing skillshots one at a time, so a fast all-in that closes the distance before she casts twice is very hard to punish.
- Mantra has to be managed like a resource - burning the empowered cast on the wrong spell at the wrong moment can leave the team without the shield or root they needed seconds later.
- Focused Resolve's root is not guaranteed crowd control - if the target breaks the chain in time, Karma is left with poke damage and little else to peel with.
Combos
- Pre-stack Mantra into empowered Inspire: cast two spells before the fight starts so the first Inspire used on an engaging ally comes out as the large decaying shield and speed boost instead of the base version.
- Focused Resolve into Inner Flame: bind a target with W to threaten the root, then follow with Q for damage and a slow - if they fail to break the chain, the root gives your team a free follow-up.
- Transcendent Embrace into an empowered spell: the ultimate grants a Mantra stack the instant it lands, so immediately chain into an empowered Q for extra zone damage or an empowered E to save whichever ally the ultimate exposed.
- Pre-placed empowered Inspire ring: drop the empowered E on your engaging tank right as the fight starts so a second ally walking through the ring also picks up the shield and speed before damage lands.
Skill order: Q > W > E
Early game
Lane behind minions and build Mantra stacks by casting Inner Flame whenever it's safe - the poke chips the enemy bot lane down without you ever needing to walk into range. Hold the empowered Inspire for the exact moment your ADC commits to a trade or the enemy goes all-in, since a well-timed shield and speed boost can flip a losing exchange outright. Use Focused Resolve's threat range to zone the enemy off the wave rather than throwing it early for poke, and keep vision stacked in the river or tri-bush - with no escape tools, Karma dies fast to any gank she doesn't see coming. Itemize toward the enchanter path, Bulwark of the Mountain into Ardent Censer and Imperial Mandate, as soon as your lane is stable.
Mid & late game — teamfighting
From the mid game on, play Karma as a backline zoning mage rather than a frontline threat: hold max range, punish grouped enemies with empowered Inner Flame for damage and lingering slow, and save Focused Resolve to root whoever dives your carries. Time Transcendent Embrace for the moment three or more enemies are stacked in a chokepoint or your team is forcing a big engage - the area damage, slow, and center knockback can single-handedly break a bad fight, and since it refills Mantra instantly you should chain straight into whichever empowered spell the fight needs next. Positioning matters more than raw damage here: Karma has no mobility, so fight from behind your frontline and never take the first hit of an engage.
Pro tips
- Pre-stack Mantra in the fog before a fight begins so the first spell you cast in the real engage comes out empowered - don't waste your two setup casts on lane minions right before a skirmish starts.
- Track the enemy jungler and side lanes constantly - with no dash or blink anywhere in the kit, playing a step further back than feels necessary is almost always the correct call.
- Use the empowered Inspire proactively on your engaging tank rather than reactively on a teammate who is already low - landing the shield before damage starts wins far more fights than landing it after.
