How to play Nasus — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips
Nasus is a Wild Rift fighter built around a single idea: every kill and every last hit with Siphoning Strike (Q) permanently boosts its damage, so the longer the game runs, the scarier this desert juggernaut becomes. His damage starts as a physical auto-attack profile and layers in magic damage through Spirit Fire and his ultimate, letting him shred both armor and health over an extended fight. Nasus doesn't need to win the first ten minutes as much as he needs to survive them, stack relentlessly, and turn into an unkillable win condition by the late game.
Strengths
- Infinite scaling: Siphoning Strike permanently gains bonus damage on every kill, turning a long game into a guaranteed late-game power spike almost no other laner can match.
- Extremely low skill floor for a scaling carry — stacking minions is simple to execute, making him one of the friendliest ways to carry a Baron Lane.
- Fury of the Sands grants a huge burst of bonus health, armor, and magic resist while cutting Siphoning Strike's cooldown in half, letting him duel or teamfight far longer than his base stats suggest.
- Wither is a brutal, long-duration shred on both movement and attack speed, making him one of the better answers to kiting duelists and attack-speed hypercarries once it lands.
Weaknesses
- Zero mobility and no dash or blink — mobile poke champions like Gnar can hop in, chip him down, and hop back out before his stacks or Wither ever come into play.
- The early game is genuinely soft: aggressive bullies like Darius can shove him off experience and gold before his Q stacks snowball into anything threatening.
- Siphoning Strike is coded as a basic attack, so blind effects — most notably Teemo — shut off both his stacking and his primary damage source at once.
- Kiting and percent-health damage (Vayne) or precise dueling tools that punish a static body (Fiora's Vitals and Riposte) exploit his lack of an escape.
Combos
- E > Q > W > R: open with Spirit Fire to shred armor and start its damage-over-time tick, weave in every empowered Siphoning Strike you can land, Wither the target you're committing to, then activate Fury of the Sands to soak damage and grind the fight out.
- W > AA(Q) chase: Wither's slow is heavy enough that a stacked Nasus can simply walk down most targets who have no dash left, landing empowered autos for the entire chase.
- R > E reset: Fury of the Sands halves Siphoning Strike's cooldown for a stream of empowered autos, so refresh Spirit Fire alongside it to layer extra percent-health damage and armor shred into the same exchange.
- Q (lane) and disengage: in lane, take the empowered auto purely for the minion kill and back off rather than chasing a full trade — the permanent stack is worth more than the poke.
Skill order: Q > E > W (take R whenever it's available)
Early game
Play patiently in lane and prioritize last-hitting with Siphoning Strike over trading, since every stack matters far more than an early kill or two. Avoid extended trades until you have a couple of ranks in Wither, and don't force 1v1s against bullies like Darius who can push you off experience range — take the free farm under turret if you have to. Use Spirit Fire for wave clear and poke when you're shoved in, and don't panic if the lane feels weak early: Nasus is one of the few champions who is allowed to lose the laning phase and still win the game.
Mid & late game — teamfighting
By the mid-to-late game Nasus becomes a frontline win condition, so activate Fury of the Sands as a fight is starting rather than as a panic button, to get full value from its bonus health, armor, and magic resist alongside the halved Q cooldown. Land Wither on the biggest threat in the fight, usually the enemy ADC or a kiting duelist, to strip their mobility and attack speed, then walk them down with empowered Siphoning Strikes while the ultimate ticks percent-health damage on everyone nearby. Position on the edge of the fight where you can reach priority targets without overextending past your team's peel, since Nasus has no way out if the fight turns against him.
Pro tips
- Stack relentlessly even when you're losing lane — a Nasus who is behind on kills but ahead on Q stacks is still winning the actual game.
- Hold Wither for the target you actually want to lock down instead of firing it off on cooldown; it's the difference between winning a duel and watching the enemy carry walk away.
- Activate Fury of the Sands early in a fight instead of late — the cooldown reduction on Q and the bonus tank stats matter most while the fight is still developing, not after you're already low.
