How to play Sett — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips
Sett, known in Wild Rift as the Boss, is a brawling Fighter who converts the beating he takes into the damage he deals — his passive alternates left and right punches for bonus damage, and his signature Haymaker turns stored-up punishment into a shield and a true-damage haymaker. He fights at point-blank range, mixing physical damage from his fists and Q with true damage from W, and scales off both AD items and max HP rather than just one. He's built to walk into the middle of a fight and out-trade whoever's standing there, making him a strong lane bully early and a hard-to-kill teamfight anchor later.
Strengths
- Haymaker (W) is a built-in comeback mechanic — the more damage he absorbs as Grit, the bigger the shield and the harder the true-damage punch when he releases it, so he gets scarier the longer a fight drags on.
- Facebreaker (E) delivers a genuine hard stun when enemies are caught on both sides, giving him reliable lockdown for an all-in or a peel for a teammate.
- The Show Stopper (R) scales off the target's bonus health, making it one of the best execute tools in the game against tanks and other stacked bruisers, while also able to drag an isolated carry out of position.
- Strong short-trade lane bully: Knuckle Down's move speed plus two empowered punches, backed by passive regen that scales with missing health, make him hard to out-trade in early skirmishes.
Weaknesses
- No true gap closer — Knuckle Down only grants move speed while walking at an enemy champion, so ranged kiters with slows or blinds can keep him at arm's length all game.
- Haymaker's punch has a visible windup and can be dodged, blinded, or parried outright — Riposte or Counter Strike turn his biggest damage source into nothing.
- Facebreaker's stun is conditional: grab an enemy on only one side and all you get is a slow, not the lockdown his combos are built around.
- Needs to take damage to fuel Grit, so patient, poke-heavy opponents who refuse to trade in melee range can starve his shield and blunt his all-in.
Combos
- Q → AA → AA → W — Knuckle Down closes the gap and empowers the next two punches, then Haymaker turns the Grit you built into a shield and a true-damage finisher.
- E → R — land Facebreaker on two enemies at once for the stun, then follow immediately with The Show Stopper on the priority target before the lockdown ends.
- R → E → W — suppress an isolated target with the ultimate and drag them into your team, clap them together with anyone nearby using Facebreaker, then cash in stored Grit with Haymaker to close out the kill.
Skill order: W > E > Q
Early game
Play Sett like a boxer working an opponent into the ropes: walk up with Knuckle Down already active so you arrive with move speed and two empowered punches ready to throw. Don't shy away from damage in trades — every hit you take banks Grit for Haymaker, so absorb a couple of hits and release W once you've stored enough for a shield that swings the exchange your way. Look to land Facebreaker against a wall, ward, or the enemy jungler for the bonus stun, and snowball any all-in you win before level 5, since The Show Stopper turns your next dive or gank into a near-guaranteed kill.
Mid & late game — teamfighting
By the mid game Sett wants to be in the thick of the fight, not on its edge — walk in first, soak the opening damage to load Grit, and look for The Show Stopper on whichever enemy will hurt the most to remove: a stacked tank for the bonus-health scaling, or an exposed carry to take out of the fight entirely. Land Facebreaker across as many bodies as you can catch for the stun, then release Haymaker once Grit is capped, since the shield alone can eat a full combo from an enemy carry. Don't panic-ult early — a 99% slow for a full second is close enough to a stun that timing The Show Stopper to catch someone out of position wins fights far more often than using it as a reflexive escape-denial button.
Pro tips
- Only activate Knuckle Down while actually moving toward a champion — it gives nothing on the way out, so time it for engaging, not disengaging.
- Bait an extra hit or two before you punch back — a fuller Grit bar means a bigger shield and harder true damage on Haymaker, so patience turns close trades into clean wins.
- Use terrain, minions, or your own teammates to sandwich a target for Facebreaker — a one-sided grab is just a slow, and Sett's all-ins depend on that guaranteed stun.
