How to play Twitch — Wild Rift guide, combos & tips
Twitch, the Plague Rat, is a Marksman in Wild Rift built entirely around patience and payoff: he hides in Ambush, lets Deadly Venom stack on anyone his autos touch, then detonates it all at once with Contaminate for huge physical burst. Almost all of his damage is physical and scales brutally with attack speed and crit, so a fed, unnoticed Twitch can shred a backline before it even reacts. He isn't built for even trades - he's built for the one moment nobody sees him coming.
Strengths
- Ambush (Q) grants real stealth for repositioning, flanking, and ganking, and staying fully undetected doubles his move speed bonus from 10% to 20%.
- Deadly Venom stacks off every basic attack, and Contaminate (E) detonates all of it as AoE physical damage, giving him one of the best burst tools against grouped, poisoned targets.
- Spray and Pray (R) adds 225 bonus attack range, 30 attack damage, and pierce, letting him poison and damage an entire enemy line from a screen away.
- Scales exceptionally hard with attack speed and crit items like Runaan's Hurricane, The Collector, and Mortal Reminder, since every extra auto both stacks venom faster and hits harder.
Weaknesses
- Extremely fragile with no dash, shield, or hard escape outside of Ambush, so once he's spotted or dived he has almost nothing to survive with.
- Weak early trading power against long-range poke marksmen or hard-engage all-in lanes, since he has no tool to answer aggression before his items and levels come online.
- Fully dependent on positioning: caught out of stealth or focused first in a fight, he contributes almost no value.
- A slow-ramping hypercarry - low base numbers and thin early stacks mean he's a middling laner who only becomes truly threatening with levels and gold behind him.
Combos
- Ambush (Q) into a flank -> Auto-attack -> Contaminate (E): slip in unseen, build Deadly Venom stacks with autos, then detonate with E for the burst.
- Venom Cask (W) -> Auto-attacks -> Contaminate (E): throw the cask for poison and a 30% slow from range, keep landing autos to stack venom, then pop E once stacks are high.
- Spray and Pray (R) -> Auto-attack down the enemy line: the pierce on R means a single well-aimed auto during the ultimate can poison and damage several enemies at once.
- Ambush (Q) -> Venom Cask (W) -> commit: vanish into stealth, slow an isolated target with the cask the instant they're alone, then all-in before help arrives.
Skill order: E > W > Q (max R whenever available)
Early game
Play patient: Twitch has little raw trading power early, so only poke with Venom Cask (W) when the enemy overextends or dives, and let Deadly Venom do its job passively through normal trades. Avoid full all-ins before level 5, especially into long-range marksmen or hard-engage duo lanes, and prioritize farming safely from max range instead. Get comfortable using bushes to stay unseen even before Ambush is maxed, since stealth uptime is the foundation everything else in his kit is built on.
Mid & late game — teamfighting
From the mid game on, Twitch wants to pre-position in Ambush, sitting unseen in a flank or bush until the enemy commits or gets locked down by allied crowd control. Trigger Spray and Pray to threaten priority backline targets from extreme range with pierce, then use Contaminate to detonate Deadly Venom across every poisoned target for a wide burst of physical damage. Because he has no way out once revealed, disengage or fall back the moment he becomes the focus target rather than trying to fight through it.
Pro tips
- Check for missing wards or vision control before engaging - the jump from 10% to 20% move speed for staying truly undetected in Ambush is often the difference between a clean pick and a wasted engage.
- Hold Spray and Pray until the fight is actually starting, or until your team has already committed crowd control - popping it early on an empty fight burns the window when it matters most.
- Prioritize Blade of the Ruined King early if lane trades are rough - the sustain and slow help you stick to targets long enough for Deadly Venom and Contaminate to do the real work.
